MEET ME IN THE MORNING...

Week 8:

Today we met Little Bean.

My stomach turned all night in anticipation or just sheer hormone overload. Whichever the case, I just couldn't wait for the alarm to go off and to jump into my clothes. It was an early morning appointment, and if you know Ryan, mornings aren't generally fun before several cups o'coffee.

This was going to be my official first appointment with MY doctor. I love my DOCTOR!!!

We finally make it into thee room. The room with the magical machine where we would first meet out little love. Ryan of course was writing down the machines specs whilst I just tried to control my breathing.

Then a knock and there was my doctor. I practically leaped at him as he entered. I gave him a huge hug. Small talk then waited for the moment some gel would be spread over my gut and search for Little Bean with that electrical wand.

This was not the case.

Apparently we were going to search for Little Bean via an "alternate" route! GULP. For my ladies who dread those annual visits with our OB's know this feeling. Men, I will spare you. But then, there he/she was on the screen to my right. I mean, there was this tiny little human with the quickest heartbeat on Earth. I had forgotten what the doctor was doing. Without sounding cheesy and cliche BUT too bad....it was magical. I quietly cried. My eyes lost all sense of tear control as Ryan, I believe, let out a sweet giggle.

It was official. I was pregnant.

Oooooo...BABY, BABY

Week 4 1/2:

Ryan and I coming home from our 1 year anniversary in Mexico City, DF to find out we are now a trio, was a lot to take in.

When we got home from the airport, via Metrolink thank you, we were in dire need of FOOD! We decided sushi was the cure from a long day of travel.

After dinner, something was not sitting right with me, and I don't mean the Mexican food either. I was feeling strange, which I took as tiredness from a long day back home.

A woman's instinct, as I will call it, had me thinking, "I have to go to CVS." I let Ryan unwind as I began to become wound-up! Could it be? I calmly left to do "something" and I drove up the like the speed of light, made a purchase, and ran to the bathroom and locked myself in!! Moments later, the little pregnancy stick I had just purchased said it all in seconds! I didn't need three minutes to get the answer BUT it took 5 minutes to collect myself for this huge new venture Ryan and I were about to take on.

Oh no! How was I to tell Ryan?

Long story short, after initial shock, shaking, and surreal emotions, we were ready. This is how this little blog begins.

Sure the stick said yes but in the neurotic possibility, I bought the double-pack and was gonna try in the morning again. Morning is best as I have read. There it was AGAIN!

[gulp]

Okay, time to get a second opinion, so I called the Kaiser. I was there in hours and well, the nurse said, "Congratulations..." and I guess my expression of fear confused her and she tried to retract her statement but I assured her, I was just in disbelief. Before I could even digest this, I was filling out paper after paper of questions!! I couldn't stop the shaking as I notified Ryan, it was true, "we're having a baby."

As I tried to find a way to keep such news to myself until we were in the clear, my adorable guy had already made his announcement to his family! He was so happy and proud, he couldn't contain himself. This made me feel fuzzy inside. The last 24 hours had been filled with such a whirlwind of emotions and realities, I don't know if I feel convinced this wasn't some dream. Me, us, seriously?
